Set up a Meta ad account
What to create before you can run an ad on Facebook and Instagram: a Page, a business portfolio, an ad account and a way to pay. Then how to get an ad you made in Misu into Meta.
Where Misu stands
Misu does not create or launch Meta campaigns yet. You build the ad here, set it live in Meta's own Ads Manager, and pay Meta directly. Misu does not handle your ad spend, so there is no Misu fee on it.
What you need
- A personal Facebook account. Meta says anyone with one can create a Page, and you can create a business portfolio logged in with your Facebook profile.
- A Facebook Page for the brand, under the brand's public name.
- A business email address you can open. Meta sends a confirmation link to it.
- A way to pay. PayPal or most credit and debit cards set the account to automatic billing; a bank account (direct debit) is possible where your country supports it. Which methods you see depends on the country and currency of the ad account.
- Your business details: legal name, address, phone number and a website that loads over HTTPS. You may not need them, but Meta asks for exactly these if it verifies your business.
Meta changes its menus often. The steps below follow its help pages as of 13 October 2026, and each links to the page it comes from. If a screen looks different, the linked page is the one to trust.
Create the account, step by step
- 1
Create a Facebook Page for the brand
Log into Facebook, open Pages in the left-hand menu and choose Create Page. Pick Public Page, then give it the brand's name and a category. Add a short bio, contact details, a profile photo and a cover photo as prompted. Meta's own walkthrough: Create a Facebook Page.
- 2
Create a business portfolio
A business portfolio is where Meta keeps your Pages, Instagram account and ad accounts together. Go to business.facebook.com, log in, open the menu under Home at the top left and choose Create a business portfolio. Name it as the business is publicly known (no special characters). If you are logged in with your Facebook profile, add your first and last name and a business email, then confirm the email Meta sends. You can personally create up to two portfolios. Meta: create a business portfolio.
- 3
Add your Page to the portfolio
In Meta Business Suite open Settings, then Pages under Accounts, then + Add and Add an existing Facebook Page. Enter the Page name or URL and confirm. You need full control of the portfolio, and once the Page is added your business owns it. Meta: add a Page to your portfolio.
- 4
Create the ad account
In Settings, open Ad accounts under Accounts, then + Add and Create a new ad account. Enter a name, the time zone and the currency you will pay in, choose My business, agree to Meta's terms and click Create ad account. If you are new to Ads Manager, its Account overview page also walks you through setup (About Ads Manager).
Two things Meta says that are worth knowing first. An ad account created inside a portfolio stays in it for good: it cannot be deleted or moved. And a new portfolio can create one ad account; the limit goes up to three once a campaign has delivered and a payment has been made. Meta: add or create an ad account.
- 5
Add a payment method
Right after you create the account Meta offers Add payment info. You can also add it later in Billing & payments, on the Payment methods tab. You must be an admin of the ad account to manage its payment methods.
The method decides how you are billed. With PayPal or most cards, Meta charges you automatically whenever your spend reaches your payment threshold, and again on your monthly bill date for the rest (about automatic payment). Bank-account direct debit is only for automatic billing and has no payment threshold (Meta: bank account).
- 6
Confirm who you are if Meta asks
To keep the platform safe, Meta only turns on some features once an advertiser has met certain requirements, so a brand-new account may not have everything. Business Support Home shows what you have and what to do next (about Business Support Home).
What Meta may ask for: business verification in Security Center, where you enter the legal name, address, phone and website, confirm by email, phone, text, WhatsApp or domain, and may upload documents if no record matches. Meta says a decision can take up to 14 business days (how to verify your business). If your ads reach people in the European Union, Meta also requires you to state who the advertiser and who the payer are. It pre-fills your Page name, so check it before you submit (advertiser and payer transparency).
- 7
Start small and let the account build a history
Meta says that when you first advertise, your payment threshold is set to a small amount, and that as payments go through it may be raised until it reaches a final amount. It describes this as a way to build up a payment history with Meta, and that it may set daily spending limits and billing frequency based on your advertising and payment history (about payment thresholds, how Meta charges for ads).
Our advice, not Meta's: put a small daily budget on the first ad. You see how Meta's review, delivery and billing behave before real money rides on it. You can also cap how high the threshold goes under Billing, then Payment settings (adjust your payment threshold).
Run your Misu ads on Meta
- 1
Pick the Meta size in the Ads studio
Choose a Meta placement in the Ads studio: Feed 4:5, Stories 9:16, Reels 9:16, Square 1:1 or Link 1.91:1. Meta lists each placement's aspect ratios and recommended minimum pixels in its aspect-ratio and image-size pages, and shows specs by format in its Ads Guide.
- 2
Export the ad
Download saves the ad as a PNG at the placement's exact size. The Download menu can also record a six-second clip: MP4 where your browser can write it, WebM where it can't (Chrome or Safari can). To make a matched set across sizes, use Campaign, then Download all: one zip with a file per ad, sorted by placement, plus a manifest.
- 3
Build the campaign in Ads Manager
Open Ads Manager and click + Create. Choose an objective, then work down Meta's three levels: the campaign holds the objective, the ad set holds the audience, placements, budget and schedule, and the ad holds the creative and which Page represents you (the three levels).
At the ad level, choose Single image or video, click Set up creative and upload your file. A carousel takes two or more images. Preview the ad across placements, then publish; Meta reviews it before it runs (Meta: create an image ad).
What the Meta connection in Misu does today
Under Marketing, then Channels, you can connect your Meta ad account. The connection is read-only and Misu does not read your results or create campaigns with it yet. Publishing from the Ads studio is a different thing: it posts the ad to a connected Facebook Page or Instagram account as an ordinary post, not as a paid ad. See Integrations.

Questions
Does Misu create or launch my Meta campaign?
No, not yet. Misu can connect your Meta ad account with read-only permission, but it does not read your results or create, edit or launch campaigns. You export the ad from the Ads studio and set it live in Meta's Ads Manager.
Does Misu take a fee on my ad spend?
No. Misu does not handle your ad spend, so there is no Misu fee on it. You pay Meta directly, with the payment method on your ad account.
Why can I only create one ad account?
Meta says every advertiser can have only one ad account until they make a confirmed payment from it, and that the limit helps prevent abuse and fraud. Accounts disabled for 60 days without usage or spend count towards the limit too. Meta adjusts the limit based on your spending history. Details are in Meta's troubleshooting article.
Why was I charged before my ad finished, or more than once?
With PayPal or most cards, Meta charges you each time your ad costs reach your payment threshold, and again on your monthly bill date for what is left. So you can be charged several times in a month, or after your ads stop running. See Meta's pages on when Meta charges you and payment thresholds.
Do I have to verify my business?
Not always. Meta requires business verification to access certain advertising, billing and spending features, and may tell you by email or notification when it applies to you. If Security Center shows your portfolio as ineligible for verification, Meta says you do not need to complete it there. See how to verify your business.
What if my ad account is restricted or disabled?
Open Meta Business Support Home, pick the account under Account overview and follow What you can do. Meta may ask you to confirm your identity, complete verification, secure the account or request a review, and only an admin can request a review. See Meta's guide.
Which size should I export for Meta?
The Ads studio has Meta sizes for Feed 4:5 (1080 × 1350), Stories and Reels 9:16 (1080 × 1920), Square 1:1 (1080 × 1080) and Link 1.91:1 (1200 × 628). Meta lists the aspect ratios each placement supports and the recommended minimum pixels. Both are Meta's call and change: check aspect ratios by placement and recommended image sizes before you upload.
