Ad recipes · UGC overlay

The UGC overlay.
Made to look unmade.

A bold caption over a casual photo, a note on a sticker, a headline leaning across the frame like a marker. It reads like a friend's story, and it is made on purpose.

The phone caption: a sample ad for a daily moisturiser, reading “Do I really need a moisturiser?” and “Honestly, yes”

01 / When it works

Use it when
it fits the job.

  1. 01

Stories and Reels placements, where a polished ad stands out in the wrong way.

  2. 02

A product that suits a casual, personal register.

  3. 03

Testing a softer voice against your headline ads.

02 / The recipes

Three recipes.
Pick one to start.

Each is drawn by the Ads studio on a sample picture, with sample words for an imaginary product. Yours takes your product, your colours and your words.

The tilted scrawl

A headline leans across the lower half like a marker scrawl: the face stays clear, the words stay loud.

03 / How it's built

Real layouts.
Live type.

The caption, the sticker and the marker headline are live type in the studio's phone-native layouts: a bold question with the answer on a white sticker, a handwritten note over a line on a sticker, and a headline leaning across the lower half. The picture is yours. Nothing is a screenshot of anyone's post.

Layouts used: Caption · Sticker note · Tilted headline

What to watch

  • Do not present a made ad as a real customer's post. The words are the brand's.
  • Casual still needs a clear picture. A blurry one is not authentic, only blurry.
  • On 9:16 the layouts keep type clear of each platform's own buttons.

Questions

Plainly.
Before you ask.

Is this user-generated content?

No. It is a style, made by you with your words. UGC overlay is the name buyers use for the look, not a claim that a customer made it.

Can I use a real customer's photo?

Yes, if you have the right to. Add it from your Library under Picture, and keep the words honest.
